Frøy Hovland Holtbakk is a Norwegian lyric coloratura soprano. She grew up in Skurdalen, a small village nearby Hardangervidda, Europe´s largest high mountain plateau. Frøy is now based in Copenhagen, where she in 2019 finished her studies at The Royal Danish Opera Academy with Susanna Eken as her teacher. She has her Bachelor from Barratt Due Music Institute in Oslo, and also a broad background from theater and musical with studies at Romerike Folk High School (theater) and Bårdar Academy (musical theater).

During her studies Frøy sang roles including Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro), Ginevra (Ariodante), Miss Jessel (The Turn of the Screw), Giulietta (I Capuleti i Montecchi) and Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte).In 2017 Frøy made her debut as Papagena (Die Zauberflöte) at The Royal Danish Opera in  Copenhagen, returning for roles including Frasquita (Carmen), Ida (Die Fledermaus) and  a Flower Maiden (Parsifal). She made her debut in Germany in 2020 singing Frasquita (Carmen) at Oper Frankfurt.


She has a diverse repertoire and is much sought after as a concert singer.
